The Camerata Obscura programme at Ross Uniting Church will feature six works for string orchestra. Three will be by well known composers from the nineteenth and twentieth century while the remaining three will have unique local interest.

Winter Suite     Frazer Deeth

To Be a Pilgrim is a short work by Tasmanian composer Ron Nakorcka and in this arrangement for strings trombone and didgeridoo will receive its Australian premiere performance.

Winter Suite for Strings is also a new work by Fraser Deeth a Launceston based musician and composer who is also a member of Camerata.

Henry Mundy's Quadrille will be the work related specifically to the history of Ross. Mundy was better known as an artist in Northern Tasmania in the years after 1830.
His first engagement however on arrival in Hobart was as art and music teacher at Elinthorp Hall School for Girls close to Ross. Here he wrote several quadrilles which he later published and sold in Launceston.

These unique pieces will be supplemented by well known works of Tchaikovsky, Sibelius and Frank Bridge.
